How Fitler Moms Was Born
A Philadelphia native, an attorney, and a mother of two little ones, Crystal Axelrod started Fitler Moms in 2019 with a simple goal in mind-- to create a network of moms in the small Fitler Square neighborhood of Philadelphia that was accommodating to working mothers.
"Becoming a mother can be an isolating experience. It helps to be reminded that we're not going through it alone." It once took a village to raise a child; today, it takes a support network. Most of us live far from our closest friends and family. We often rely on technology and social media to connect with others, which can leave us feeling even more isolated. We lack real, human interactions with our peers. The mission of Fitler Moms is to create a supportive community for women when they need it most, where they need it most-- right in their own neighborhood.
Fitler Moms Today
With over 400 members, Fitler Moms has expanded into Graduate Hospital, Point Breeze, Fairmount, South Philly, and across the city. Moms Meetups are now held virtually, on Saturdays, at 10am ET. The New & Expecting Moms Program connects moms-to-be with their neighbors who share a similar due date. In addition, Fitler Moms hosts local classes and special events for the entire family, all designed to create a space for meeting and connecting with others. Whether you're a new mom, you're new to Philly, or you just want an easy way to make some new friends who happen to be moms, this community is for you.
Whatever your stage of motherhood, wherever you live, join Fitler Moms and begin connecting with your neighborhood moms today. Because nowadays, it takes a network.
